When we get into the story, immediately we are thrown into a reverse harem.

So, Winnie gets taken to Neverland because they need to go through her memories to find where Wendy Darling had hidden Peter Pan's shadow because it has become his life source for survival. The characters lack so much depth to them including Winnie besides she is a prostitute because of her mother's lack of mothering. This is just me talking about my initial expectations.īut the reason I gave this book 2 stars is because it LACKS. Maybe we will see this in the second book, but this isn't the reason for my 2 star rating. I wanted so badly for Peter pan to fly through my window and take me away to Neverland to play with pixie dust and fight pirates. I grew up loving Peter pan and believing in fairies and building little rock houses for them and clothes. So, why did I choose to give 2 stars? Well, let's go with, the book could've been so much better if someone else wrote it who put the time to actually develop the characters and their connections with each other. 4.2 stars? Wow! Must be amazing, right? No. Just saying.I will say, when I saw the rating for this book, I had such high hopes. If I pick up book two it will SOLELY be for Vane. Maybe I’ll pick up book two one day but until then, I’m left with this 2.5-star bad-tasting book in my mouth. And while it kind of seems like book 2 is going to go hard with a good plot… meh. Honestly, I loved the idea behind this story but… meh. Now THAT was something that I really enjoyed. I think the other problem is I started a series right after reading The Never King that blew me away and put this book to shame. One of them was interesting to me but not enough to redeem even part of the story. We shall see.Īnother issue, I think, was the fact that none of the characters were really that likable in my opinion.

And I really don’t think I’ll lose any sleep if I never find out. I MIGHT pick up book two at some point and read it just to see if the plot goes anywhere and to find out what’s going on with this curse and all but… I’m not dying to find out. But then I sat on this one for a few days and decided I didn’t really care either way. Was I dying to go get the second book to find out what was going on? Well, at first, yea. In fact, the plot didn’t really start until the end of the book when it left us on a cliffhanger. I wasn’t bothered by it but I think the plot wasn’t enough to warrant literally anything else this book had to offer. I don’t know if it was this book specifically or the gang-banging that was going on. But I was willing to give it a go as it was a Peter Pan retelling and it seemed like it was going to be really dark. Let me just say, I’ve never read a book like this before. Ok so… one of the book clubs I’m a part of read this book and when I saw what it was about, I immediately jumped on it.
